Typical Causes of Wear on Galvanizing and Steel Lines
Molten zinc corrosion
In the zinc bath, iron and steel surfaces are gradually damaged by dissolution and dross formation.
Bearing and bushing wear
Friction-induced wear on rotating roll journals and bearings leads to loss of diameter.
Dross build-up
Zinc-iron compounds accumulating on the surface impair surface quality and smooth rotation.

Which coating is used for sink rolls?
For sink roll surfaces, HVOF-applied carbide systems such as WC-CoCr are usually considered; surface finish and dimensions are then controlled by final grinding after coating. The selection depends on bath conditions and line requirements.
Should I choose WC-Co or WC-CoCr?

Can a worn sink roll be refurbished?
Depending on wear depth and shaft condition, recoating is in many cases faster and more economical than sourcing a new part; each roll is assessed from photos and measurements.
